Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has implemented a registration system to certify the qualification of engineers and architects working in the emirate. Registered engineers will receive an official engineering card that would allow them to access government projects across Abu Dhabi.
This of course assumes that you already have your Certificate of Equivalency. If not, you need to obtain it first.
Documents Required:
- Certificate of Equivalency (or equalized degree) obtained from Ministry of Education.
- Police Clearance or Good Conduct Certificate.
- Scanned copy of labor card.
- Employment history in the UAE.
- TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN letter from your company.
Membership with Society of Engineers (SOE). Your SOE card should be valid at the time of registration.
Experience certificates from previous employment. The accumulated years of relevant engineering experience will determine your experience level in the DMT system. This is important because some government registrations require a minimum number of years of experience for their core staff before they can undertake special projects.
If you want to include your experience from outside UAE, you need to have a duly notarized certificate of employment from your previous employer stating your starting date and ending date. The certificate should be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE embassy in the Country.
