Professionals in the UAE are required to equalize their degrees to obtain certificate of equivalency from the Ministry of Education.
Professionals working in the UAE are required to secure from the Ministry of Education (MOE) a certificate of equivalency for their educational degrees earned outside of UAE. Civil engineers, among other professions, must prove that their educational qualifications are genuine. The equivalency certificate is also a mandatory requirement when applying for an engineering card in Abu Dhabi(Engineer Registration System)
Documents required for Equivalency
Intermediate Diploma and Bachelor Degrees:
- A copy of the qualification to be equalized (wall certificate) duly attested, and the transcript of records (mark sheet) for the qualification to be equalized.
- A copy of the transcript record of transferred hours for each institution independently (If the Transferred hours was 15 hours or above).
- The original letter of the embassy of the country issuing the qualification with the academic institution’s reply indicating: the authenticity of the qualification. Qualifications issued from certain countries are exempted from providing this letter as the Ministry corresponds the specialized authorities in these countries to get the needed information.
- Legal translation of the certificate if issued in any language other than Arabic or English.
- A copy of the high school certificate, duly attested (except for the cases where high school certificate is 20 years old, and in such cases, a letter of the embassy of the country issuing the high school certificate is required, indicating the authenticity of the high school certificate and its duration.
- Proving attendance in the country of study (for students enrolled in the year 2000 and after): passport and a proof of residence (entry and exit seals for the country where the applicant studied), or a copy of the first entry to the country.
- A copy of the qualification to be equalized (wall certificate) duly attested, and the transcript of records (mark sheet) for the qualification to be equalized (where applicable).
- The original letter of the embassy of the country issuing the qualification with the academic institution’s reply indicating the authenticity of the qualification. Qualifications issued from certain countries are exempted from providing this letter as the Ministry corresponds the specialized authorities in these countries to get the needed information.
- A copy of the transcript record of transferred hours for each institution independently (If the Transferred hours was 15 hours or above).
- Legal translation of the certificate if issued in any language other than Arabic or English.
- Copies of the first degree (bachelor) duly attested, and the transcript of records (mark sheet) for the bachelor.
- A copy of preceding equivalency obtained from the Ministry of Education (if available).
- Proving attendance in the country of study: passport and a proof of residence (entry and exit seals for the country where the applicant studied), or a copy of the first entry to the country.
- An official letter stating the starting date for the Master and Doctoral degrees.
- For Master and Doctoral degrees, a copy of the thesis abstract is required, along with an official letter issued by the awarding university, indicating the college name and the research area and the major (if major is not mentioned in the certificate of graduation).
